Jacó is known for its surfing beaches and nightlife, and as a gateway to Cosa Rica's national parks.

This National Park is known worldwide as a birding destination and is home to a diverse array of birdlife, including the Scarlet Macaw, which is second largest species of Psittacidae in Costa Rica and in danger of extinction.
